SAD leader among 14 booked for vandalising police station in Muktsar

MUKTSAR : Kotbhai police have booked Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon, his brother Sunny Dhillon, personal assistant Jagtar Singh, Kuldeep Singh and 10 unidentified persons for allegedly threatening officials and vandalising police station.

On Monday evening, Akali workers protested in front of the Kotbhai police station demanding release of one of their workers. During the protest, Akali leaders exchanged heated arguments with station house officer Kothai Krishan Kumar.

When contacted, Gidderbaha deputy superintendent of police Rajpal Singh said: “We have booked the accused under Sections 353, 186, 427, 506 and 148.”

When contacted, Dimpy Dhillon said: “The SHO is acting at the behest of Congress leaders and targeting our workers. We will meet party chief Sukhbir Badal on Wednesday and intensify our stir.” Dhillon had unsuccessfully contested recent assembly election from the Gidderbaha constituency.

A video of SAD leaders exchanging heated arguments with police officials also went viral.
