Fazilka : Gurnam Singh alias Gama, son of a local BJP councillor, has been booked for allegedly molesting an eight-year-old daughter of a granthi here.
The granthi, in his statement to the police, claimed that Gurnam, their neighbour, arrived at their house on the pretext of fixing a power supply snag. He alleged that Gurnam and his daughter, a Class VI student, were on the roof of his house where he allegedly tried to molest her. The girl raised the alarm following which the accused fled.
Gurnam Singh, who is 32 years old and has two children, has been booked under Section 354 and 452 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He is stated to be absconding.
