Chandigarh : State Health and Family Welfare Minister Brahm Mohindra has taken a serious note of the practice of referring one patient to another hospital and ordered an in-depth investigation of all such cases where the patients have been referred to another hospitals on one pretext or other.
Chairing the meeting of Civil Surgeons held at the office of Director Health Services, Punjab, Mohindra instructed the Civil Surgeons to make sure that quality health services are provided to the citizen under the various state sponsored and National Health Mission schemes so as to win the faith and trust of the people. Civil Surgeons were also directed to personally monitor the patients’ data being uploaded at the district level. He said that it is found that most of the districts send incomplete and defective data to the headquarters, regarding health facilities provided to the patients. The Minister said that in such a situation it becomes difficult for the head quarter to review and assess the real impact of the health schemes. He directed the Civil Surgeons to personally supervise the data being forwarded to the head quarter and henceforth the concerned Civil Surgeon would be held accountable for any flaw in the data.
The Health Minister also issued set of directions for the Civil Surgeons to maintain high standards of sanitation and hygiene in and around the premises of the hospitals. They have been directed to launch weekly sanitation campaigns. Operation Theatres would be the centre stage of these sanitisation campaigns.
