RUPNAGAR : Punjab local bodies, tourism and cultural affairs minister Navjot Singh Sidhu was here at Ropar Indian Institute of Technology to flag off the endurance run of Mahindra BAJA SAEINDIA on Sunday.

Sidhu said he is more than satisfied with the performance of Congress government in the state in past one year.

“All the state departments have worked in last one year but the people will be better to tell about the performance of the government,” Sidhu said during a press conference at IIT .

Answering a question about Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD) ‘pol khol’ rallies, Sidhu said the SAD has already been exposed.

SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal recently said in a statement that he will fill the exchequer of the state if he is given two months to run the government, reacting to this, Sidhu said Sukhbir Singh Badal must tell what Akalis were doing for the past ten years. They are responsible for emptying the exchequer in the first place.

Sidhu said the world is changing at fast pace and present era is the era of technology; Punjab can become prosperous with the efficient use of technology within one year.

He said implementation of e-governance can end corruption in the government offices.

“I could not end corruption in improvement trusts but it is possible with the introduction of e-governance. The idea of e-governance was given in 2006 and it was not implemented due to resistance from within,” Sidhu said.
