Space shortage has assumed alarming proportions with procured wheat stacked on internal roads of FCI godowns in Fazilka and nearby Ladhuka areas. Wheat procured about two weeks back is yet to be lifted despite the tall claims of the government in this regard.

More than 8,000 government-aided school teachers in the state will go on mass casual leave on May 26 and hold a rally at Sai Dass Senior Secondary School, Jalandhar, in protest against the failure of the government in implementing their approved demands.

With efficient financial management, the Patiala Municipal Corporation (MC) has doubled its income in the past five years. In 2006-07, the MC’s income was Rs 35.72 crore, while the revenue generation for 2011-12 stood at Rs 74.33 crore.
