Suspension of 2032A Ludhiana Special Shatabdi - 12/02/2009

IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE

12 February 2009

Suspension of 2032A Ludhiana Special Shatabdi

Jassi Khangura MLA, Halqa Qila Raipur today wrote to Minister for Railways, Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav regarding the recent suspension of the Ludhiana Special Shatabdi.

Mr Khangura said that this service was definitely required by Ludhianvis who struggle to get bookings currently on the existing services provided and with timings that are not family friendly.

He explained to the Minister for Railways that the timings of the 2013A Ludhiana Special Shadabdi had been offputting for travelers because the service was not consistent over the winter (with delays between 30 and 90 minutes not uncommon, and bookings in early days of service being chaotic).  The Special service also took 1 hour longer than the other two regular Shatabdi trains. He suggested timings of 09:30 departing Ludhiana arriving New Delhi at 13:30 for the outbound service.  He also suggested adding an inbound service to depart Delhi at 14:30 and arrive at 18:30 whilst deferring the current 16:30 departure of the 2013 Amritsar Shatabdi from Delhi to 17:00.

Mr Khangura requested Minister for Railways Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav to recommence third Shatabdi with vigour and give it at least one year of consistent service to prove its viability, as there is definitely sufficient traffic from Ludhiana to justify it as a permanent service.
