Khangura takes serious note of lawlessness in Ludhiana - 18/07/2009

LUDHIANA, July 18: Qila Raipur MLA Jassi Khangura today expressed grave concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the Ludhiana city. Referring to the latest incident of a youth being shot dead after he resisted the attempts of being robbed of Rs three lakh, Khangura said, this was yet another incident in a log series and administration still seemed to be sleeping and sloth stricken.

Expressing heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family, Khangura said, this is high time that the administration woke up to its responsibility of saving the life and property of the people of the city. He pointed out, earlier also similar incidents have taken place and the administration does not seem to have learnt any lessons to take corrective measures to
prevent more incidents.

The Qila Raipur MLA observed, it can never be worse than this. “A tehsildar is stripped and beaten up in public, an SP is thrashed blue, vehicles and cash are snatched at gun point, a hospital is ransacked and now when a brave boy tried to save the money of his company he paid with his life”, Khangura pointed out, while remarking, there seems to be totalanarchy in the city.

Blaming the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharitya Janata Party alliance government in the state for this anarchy and lawlessness, he said, the Chief Minister and his entire herd of ministers and legislators, including those from Ludhiana, are too busy showing their presence and loyalty in Jallalabad, while the city has been left at the mercy of robbers and assassins who get encouraged and emboldened with every successful attempt of heinous crime.

Khangura asked the local administration, particularly the police as what measures have been taken for the safety and security of the life and property of the common people. “After every serious crime we have a press conference by the police officials claiming to have cracked a previous case only to learn the next day that another serious incident has taken place”, he pointed out.

The Congress MLA demanded adequate compensation for the family of the victim, while at the same time asking the administration to take adequate security measures. “The government and administration cannot escape the responsibility of providing safety and security to the people”, he asserted, while adding, Ludhiana needs better policing that can restore the faith and confidence of the people in the system as nobody is feeling safe today.
