Do not politicise the Black List - 27/07/2010
S. Parkash Singh BadalChief Minister
Punjab
27 July 2010
Dear Badal Sahib,
Do not politicise the Black List
I am shocked at the selective treatment of the black list issue by your government.
You are seeking to use it as a political tool in the build up to the SGPC elections.
In my opinion you should have always considered this to be a non-partisan NRI issue.
You have still not appreciated that resolution of this issue is not merely about deleting a few names and ignoring others with whom you, your ministers and your criminal supporters have personal enmity.
It is also high time that you reveal how many additional names have been added to the black list as a result of your government's actions.
Please accept reality and start campaigning for the issues that really matter to those on the black list, including:
1. Fraudulent black listing of NRIs by the Punjab police to enable the systematic loot of NRI property.
2. The need for either the full black list affecting Punjabis to be published or for a facility for individuals to verify whether they are on the black list or not.
3. The need for an effective and independent Appellate Authority in order that those whose names do feature on the black list have the ability to argue their case.
It is highly regrettable that your government has failed to approach the black list issue in the correct light.
If you wish to deliver true justice to NRIs on the black list issue I trust you may give the above due consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Jassi Khangura, MLA
