Ex-SAD MLA’s sons booked for attacking BJP councillor

Ferozepur : Ferozepur police has booked two persons, namely Surinder Singh Baboo and Rohit Gill Daboo along with four to five unidentified persons, for assaulting Zora Singh Sandhu, BJP’s councillor Cantt Board, under Sections 295-A, 323, 149, 506.
The accused are the sons of former Akali MLA Joginder Singh Jindu of Ferozepur Rural.
Zora Singh Sandhu, Councilor Cantt Board stated that he had opposed the charging hefty fees by the Cantt Board which the Board has proposed to charge from the shopkeepers and imposing of ‘vehicle tax’ to generate revenue when the octroi, which presently only Cantt Board is charge, is likely to be withdrawn after the introduction of GST in the country.
The chairperson of the meeting ordered to keep the matter under consideration before passing it on my producing certain relevant documents.
Cantonment Board had been in controversy on number of occasions in the past like sewerage scam, recruitment on fake certificates etc.
Zora Singh said that the moment he came out of the meeting presided over by Brig Narinder Singh where CEO was also present, the sons of former Akali MLA attacked him over his action of raising the issue in the meeting which were in the interest of the public. He stated that they used abusive language and attacked him, besides removing his turban and pulling his beard. In the meantime, with the intervention of police, the situation was controlled.
He said that the entire incident was recorded in the CCTV installed in the Board office which could be enough witness to establish his charges.
