Faridkot police arrests constable for raping 14-year-old schoolgirl

Faridkot : The Faridkot police today arrested a constable and his accomplice for kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old Class IX student.
Constable Kulwinder Singh and Kuldeep Singh allegedly kidnapped the girl from the house of her maternal grandparents in Sukhanwala village of Faridkot last evening. After raping the girl, the two dumped the girl near a water channel in Golewala village.
The victim reached home this morning and narrated the incident following which the police booked Kulwinder Singh and Kuldeep Singh.
Kulwinder Singh was recruited in the Punjab Police some days back and was under probation at the Faridkot city police station. "The medical examination of the girl has confirmed rape," said Jawinder Pal Sharma, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Faridkot. The accused were produced in the court of the Duty Magistrate and remanded to police custody for three days. The rape by a policeman has further soiled the image of the Faridkot police already facing flak for its role in the abduction case of a minor girl four months back.
