PATIALA: A woman staying at Sui Gira Mohalla has alleged that a dharma guru had raped her and she had even reported the matter to the police but no action has been initiated in this regard for the past three months. She threatened suicide in case the police did not take any action.

The woman while interacting with the press here has sent out a warning to the administration that if the police do not take any strict action in three days then she will commit a suicide in front the Kali Mata Mandir in Patiala after three days.

According to the victim, she had informed the matter to IG Paramjeet Singh Gill on October 31 last year in his office. She had also sent a complaint to the deputy chief minister of Punjab through a letter. But due to no action being taken in the matter, she has now approached the media for help.

The victim added that she became a follower of the guru on August 28 last year. The guru gave her a soft drink laced with something and then raped her after she fell unconscious. When she regained consciousness, the guru promised to marry her but when she started pressing him for marriage, he created circumstances that have now made it difficult for her to survive. The guru is a threat to her life now, she stated.

She stated that the guru asked some of his known men to write threatening letters to him and following this she has sought police protection also. For proving her side, the woman presented some documents also in front of the media.

On the other hand, when IG Paramjeet Singh Gill was asked about this, he stated that he was in a meeting and tried to avoid the matter completely.
