NEW DELHI: A day after giving his blood and urine samples to the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) for a test, Indian boxing legend Vijender Singh today appeared confident and said he would come out clean from the drug scandal.

“I never consumed heroin or any other drug and I stand by it. The results will prove it,” said India’s boxing star. The results of the test are expected on this evening.

The 27-year-old boxer had agreed to the test two days after Punjab Police had claimed that he had taken heroin 12 times. Following this, the Union Sports Ministry had asked NADA to test him.

Sport Minister Jitendra Singh had yesterday said the boxer may have to go to rehab if he tests positive for substance abuse.

It is pertinent to mention that Vijender Singh had refused to provide his samples to Punjab Police during interrogation on March 11.

Clarifying his stand on the issue, Vijender Singh said: “I never refused to undergo tests, but my only condition was that the test should be conducted by an agency like NADA.”
