MOGA: District Transport Officer of Moga, Gurtej Singh, was today apprehended red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 16,000 by a team of Punjab Vigilance Bureau team.
Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing drive against rampant corruption also nabbed his two gunmen constables along with Moga DTO.
Disclosing this here today, Sursh Arora, Chief Director-cum-DGP Vigilance Bureau Punjab said that Bureau has put up its best efforts to eradicate corruption amongst public servants and others in every sphere in the State.
In this direction, the Vigilance Bureau caught Gurtej Singh DTO Moga along with two constables Sukhjit Singh and Didar Singh posted as gunmen, demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 16,000 from the complainant Avtar Singh Transporter of Rampura Phool, District Bathinda for avoiding traffic chalans of his trucks.
He added that the complainant approached the Bureau and alleged that DTO Moga was demanding monthly bribe from him for not chalaning his trucks as a settlement. He has already paid Rs. 16,000 to the DTO for not to chalan his trucks but was demanding more money.
After finding the veracity of facts a vigilance team led by Ranbir Singh Khatra AIG Flying Squad-1, Hargobind Singh SP and Sanjiv Bhatt DSP Vigilance laid a trap and the accused were nabbed red handed near Moga in the presence of two government officials as witnesses. The tainted money was recovered from them. In this regard a vigilance case under u/s 7, 13 (1) read with 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 at Vigilance Bureau Flying Squad Police Station Ajitgarh and further investigation was under progress.
