Pannu is learnt to have given the details of the attack on him without any provocation.

Pannu is further learnt to have alleged in his report that there was a conspiracy behind the attack on him and needs thorough investigations.

The Punjab Government will follow this report with the Uttarakhand Government and also wait for the report of the SIT formed by the Punjab police for further action.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pannu was instrumental in unearthing the books scam in the state education department which is headed by Sikander Singh Maluka as Education Minister. Maluka’s daughter in law was also on deputation with the education department as additional director projects (Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan).

The Punjab Chief Minister has already appointed retired judge of the high court Justice A N Jindal as one man commission to enquire into the alleged scam of books in the education department.

Pannu has alleged that the attack on him was an attempt to kill him and has alleged the role of some officials of his department.

He has maintained that the attack was absolutely unprovoked and cannot rule but the role of some of his colleagues as he had exposed some of the corrupt practices in the education department.

Pannu has expressed his thanks to the ITBP men who came to his rescue as without their help he would not have been alive today.

Meanwhile the SIT setup by the Punjab Police has also started the investigations into the attack on Pannu.

The state government has also written to the social networking portals including You Tube to withdraw the video clipping showing attack on Pannu and the government is likely to register a case under the IT (Information Technology) act in this regard.

Pannu during his postings at various places including Deputy Commissioner Amritsar, Chairman, Punjab Pollution Control Board and lately as Director General Punjab Schools Education has done a commendable job and has exposed many scams.

The Punjab Pradesh Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa has alleged a deep rooted conspiracy behind the attack on Pannu and asked the chief minister to treat it as a wakeup call.

Bajwa alleged that Pannu was deliberately sent to Uttarakhand when the state government has full-fledged department of disaster management. It was the duty of the disaster management department to go to Uttarakhand to rescue the people.

Bajwa alleged that chief minister came into action only when he questioned the silence of the government.

Meanwhile attempts to contact the chief secretary Rakesh Singh and Dinkar Gupta, ADGP (law and order) failed as they were not available. Chief Secretary was busy with the Chief Minister and Dinkar Gupta did not respond to the cell phone calls for their comments.
