Fatehgarh Sahib : The police has arrested a 17-year-old boy for raping a class IV student of the government girls school, Sanghol, today.
The girl was on her way home after school when Deepak Kumar, a resident of Sanghol, took her to a sugarcane field and raped her. The girl has been admitted to the Fatehgarh Sahib civil hospital. A case has been registered under Sections 376 and 377 of the IPC and Section 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act, 2012, on the complaint of Kalyan Singh, father of the girl.
SSP Gurmeet Singh Chauhan said in his complaint, the father of the victim stated that when his daughter did not return home after school, he and his wife started search for her. When they reached near the sugarcane fields on the outskirts of the town, they heard the cries of the girl.
The accused was produced in the court and sent to juvenile home in Ludhiana. He said the court had fixed September 2 as the date for submission of his birth proof.
