PHAGWARA / JALANDHAR: A case has been registered under Section 295 (A) against a Hindi news channel and its editor for hurting the sentiments of the members of the Ravidassia community.
The news channel allegedly while telecasting news related to the controversial Godman Asaram Bapu flashed picture of Guru Ravidass instead.
The National Scheduled Castes Alliance (NSCA) and Chamar Mahan Sabha (CMS) have urged Punjab DGP Sumedh Saini to constitute a special investigation team (SIT) to probe into the matter and also initiate legal action against the erring channel.
A delegation led by Paramjit Singh Kainth, president of NSCA submitted a memorandum to the Police Comissioner Ram Singh on the issue.
The commissioner assured that he would look into the matter.
