BSF seizes heroin worth Rs 1055 cr till now this year

JALANDHAR: Border Security Force seized 211. 311 kg. heroin till now during this year. The contraband seized include 17 kg heroin seized from the Ferozepur sector in the wee hours today, said DIG RPS Jaswal in a press release issued from the Punjab Frontiers HQ of the BSF here. The price of the heroin seized during this year is said to be more than Rs. 1055 crore in the international market.
Apart from this fake Indian currency of Rs. 52 lakh was recovered from the smugglers by the vigilant BSF jawans.
Regarding seizure of 17 g heroin from the JN Mohammad BOP in Ferozepur sector this early morning, Jaswal said that following some inputs that the smugglers were active in the area of BOP Jhugge Noor Mohammad, the BSF intensified its patrolling and laid ambush.
The BSF troops observed movement of some Pakistani smugglers near border fence at about 03.35 AM and challenged them followed by firing shots in self defence. The smugglers managed to escape taking advantage of darkness supplemented with high growth of paddy fields and water channels. During search of the area, the BSF troops recovered 17 packets of heroin having a value of Rs. 85 crore in the international market.
