15 students injured as school bus overturns in Patiala

Patiala : A school bus carrying around 25 students overturned near the Truck Union office today after it was hit by a speeding Innova car. At least 15 students of Kaintal School sustained minor injuries and were admitted to a nearby private hospital for treatment. The victims were discharged after being administered the first-aid. Charanjeet Singh, the bus driver, said when he was negotiating a turn, the Innova car coming from the Rajpura side jumped the red light and hit the bus as a result of which the vehicle overturned.
Eyewitnesses to the incident said the car driver immediately fled the spot. Charanjeet Singh along with others helped the children. The children’s parents reached the spot after hearing the news.
Kotwali SHO Jaswinder Singh Tiwana said a case under Sections 279/ 337/ 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the drive of the Innova on the complaint of the bus driver.
