Jalandhar MP flays lathi-charge on students

Jalandhar : Jalandhar Member Parliament (MP) Santokh Singh Chaudhary on Friday strongly condemned the lathi-charge incident on Scheduled Castes (SC) students in Nawanshahr.
The MP demanded immediate suspension of those involved and said that such incidents of police atrocities were increasing every day in Punjab.
In a joint statement, MP Chaudhary along with his son Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) chief Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary said that the state government which has failed on all grounds was now using police force to suppress public sentiments against the SAD - BJP government in Punjab.
MP Chaudhary said that everybody has the freedom to protest for their rights. “I would raise this issue in the Parliament and make sure that institutions where government guidelines on scholarships of SC/OBC students were violated were shut down”, he added.
