AMRITSAR: Holding a rally at Hall Gate here on Wednesday while observing April 1 (All Fools Day) as ‘Modi Day’, Congress workers lambasted the central government for making empty promises about bringing back black money stashed in foreign banks and depositing cash to the tune of ` 15 lakh in every citizen’s account.
Charging the Modi government with befooling the masses, Congress workers led by councillor Gurinder Singh Rishi disbursed “fake” cheques for ` 15 lakh each among residents, with each cheque bearing the title — ‘Modi State Bank’. They also played a CD of all promises made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
“We have distributed at least 1,000 fake cheques of ‘Modi State Bank’ among residents and played a CD, showing promises made by him during electioneering.
