Akali feud: Five booked in assault case

BATHINDA: The local police have booked five members of an Akali group after two members of a rival Akali group were attacked at Baho Yatri village near here.

Based on Kuldeep Singh’s complaint, Amarjit Singh, Binder Singh, Kaka Singh, Jasvir Singh, Bharpur Singh and an unidentified man have been booked under sections 323, 336, 341, 506, 148 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. The complainant alleged that Jasvir had unsuccessfully contested the sarpanch’s poll against Buta Singh, father of Jasvir’s friend Lakhvir Singh. “On April 8, Jasvir, along with his son Amarjit and others, attacked me and Lakhvir while we were attending a marriage party at Ramsra village near Rama Mandi,” Kuldeep said.
