Demanding regular pay scales, National Health Mission (NHM) employees held a protest in which they begged for money at markets in Sangrur on Wednesday
They collected a sum of Rs 527 from shopkeepers and rehri owners during their protest
These employees have been observing a strike since March 16
The district president of NHM Employees Union, Jaskirat Singh, said begging for money was a symbolic protest as they wanted to send across a message to the state government that NHM employees could not meet their family expenses with meagre salaries.
