Congress protest against poor lifting of wheat grain

Jalandhar : Criticising the ruling SAD-BJP government for poor wheat lifting in the state, Congress leaders from Doaba held a ‘rail roko’ protest at the local Dakoha railway line on Saturday afternoon. Holding placards and raising anti government slogans, the congress leaders attacked both the state and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led centre government. The congress leaders said that while the farmers were ruined, the state government had turned a blind eye towards their problems.
The protest was led by Jalandhar MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary along with his brother and ex-local bodies minister Chaudhary Jagjit, Punjab Youth Congress president Vikram Chaudhary, DCC (rural) president Jagbir Brar, Avtar Henry his son Bawa Henry, Amarjit Singh Samra, DCC (urban) Rajinder Beri, Seth Satpal Mal, Surinder Mahey, leader of opposition in MC, Jagdish Raj Raja along with congress councillors. Punjab Mahila Congress president Kittu Grewal was also present.MP Chaudhary Santokh said that farmers were subject to financial crisis first due to the freak weather in the region and secondly the ruling Akali government ruined them with their swift lack of policy.
