Fazilka : Jalalabad Youth Congress elections, which were postponed following violence on July 21, were conducted peacefully during the last two days.
The police administration decided to conduct the elections in three days instead of one day to prevent violence. Elaborate police arrangements have been made around Rajput Dharmshala, the site of the polling. The police even did not now allow Congress workers to set up promotional booths near the polling station.
Congress observer Uday Singh Gujjar, who came from Rajasthan to conduct the elections, said about 5,000 members from more than 100 panchayats of the Jalalabad segment participated in the elections. The voting process has come to an end. The result shall be declared on Saturday.
