Congress protests against price rise, house tax

CHANDIGARH: The local Congress unit on Sunday held a protest against price rise, imposition of house tax and anti-people policies of the BJP government. The Congress Seva Dal workers also organised a cycle rally from Congress Bhavan, Sector 35.

On this occasion, Pawan Kumar Bansal, former Union minister, and Pardeep Chhabra, city Congress chief, also addressed the rally attended by a numbers of residents, traders and workers.
The rally was organised by Seva Dal chairman Acchelal Gaur.
Addressing, Bansal attacked the BJP government on the announcement of ‘one rank, one pension’, saying it was a cruel joke with more than 30 lakh ex-servicemen. Bansal also said while the Congress party increased the pension of exservicemen in the last 10 years manifolds, the OROP announcement is against their spirit.
Chhabra also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city will bring nothing new, as both the projects, which he will inaugurate, were started during the UPA rule.
