Orbit Aviation bus hits 50-year-old man

PATIALA: A bus of Orbit Aviation, belonging to deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal, injured a 50-year-old pedestrian near Nandpur Keson village on Patiala-Sirhind road on Sunday. The victim has been identified as Nirmal Singh, 50, a resident of Faganmajra village in Patiala.

The accident took place at around 5.30pm in the evening, when the victim was returning home after work. He was standing on the side of the road when an Orbit bus en route to Sirhind from Patiala hit him, causing multiple injuries.

Following the accident, the victim was rushed to Rajindra hospital where the doctors stated that he had suffered major head injuries.

The bus driver managed to flee from the spot along with his bus after the accident; however, the onlookers identified the bus as belonging to Orbit Company, bearing the registration number of Bathinda.

While talking to the police, they refused to reveal the name of the bus and said that the bus was private.

DSP Varinderjit Singh Thind, said that investigation is on and the police are verifying the registration number of the bus (PB03 7522). He added that the police are procuring details from Pepsu road transport corporation (PRTC) and the legal action will be taken against the driver.
