SAD SARPANCH, 11 ACCOMPLICES BOOKED FOR ASSAULT, TRESPASS

LUDHIANA: Matter of involvement of Abohar Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and liquor baron Shiv Lal Doda in brutal murder case of Dalit youth had not died down, yet another SAD sarpanch landed in trouble for assaulting and trespassing in Ludhiana.
Sarpanch of Kanganwal village and his accomplices were booked on Saturday for assaulting a man with sharp-edged weapons over old rivalry and trespassing.
The case was registered following the statement of Aslam Khan of Kanganwal village.
Kulwant Chand, assistant sub-inspector (ASI), Sahnewal Police station, said, “Aslam Khan told police that accused sarpanch Jaswinder Singh and his accomplice Raj had nursed enmity against them. On Friday evening, when he and his father were coming back home in his car, Raj and Jaswinder reached there with 10 other accomplices and pelted stones on their car injuring his father.”
“Khan told when he resisted, the sarpanch opened attack on him with sharp-edged weapon following which he suffered injuries. Following this, Khan fled from the spot and hid in his house, but the accused followed him and trespassed. They assaulted Khan and his father, vandalised the house and fled,” the ASI said.
The police have booked sarpanch Jaswinder Singh, his accomplices Raj and 10 other unidentified people under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
