Ropar : A differently abled man was allegedly thrown out of an Orbit bus on Ropar-Chandigarh road today after he demanded concession on the ticket from the conductor.

The victim, Talwinder Singh Buttar, alleged the conductor threatened him with dire consequences when he demanded to be given a concession of 50 per cent under the disabled category.

The management of the transport company, owned by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s family, admitted that the bus conductor was at fault. “I have terminated the services of the accused conductor, Deepu,” said manager Harbhajan Singh.

Orbit was under fire last year, when a minor girl died after she was allegedly molested and thrown out of a company bus near Moga. Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal had then sent the staff to take an orientation course.

Talwinder of Anandpur Sahib, who works for a vernacular newspaper, said he boarded the bus at Ropar at 4 pm. He said he handed over Rs 100 to the bus conductor and asked for 50 per cent rebate under the disabled category, presenting a certificate issued by the Deputy Commissioner.
