Gurdaspur : A potentially volatile situation developed in the city after Navtej Singh Guggu, a self proclaimed reformist, put up several hoardings and banners naming people involved in drug smuggling.

Guggu, who had allegedly set Nihang Ajit Singh Phoola on fire in the Amritsar Central Jail on August 28, 2008, blamed four SAD leader for backing drug smugglers. Six hoardings, which were put up in Gurdaspur yesterday, were taken down apparently by supporters of those figuring in the list. Guggu alleged that Gurdaspur SSP Jagdeep Singh Hundal had ordered the removal of hoardings, but Hundal refuted the claim.
