Congress village sarpanches allege discrimination in fund distribution

BATHINDA: The sarpanches of Beer Behman and Behman Dewana villages on Sunday accused the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) of denying them grants for development works as they were Congress men.

Lachhman Singh, husband of Congress sarpanch of Behman Dewana village Charanjit Kaur said that delegation of his panchayat and Beer Behman panchayat had gone to meet Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal during her sangat darshan programme at Balluana village seeking grants for development works but they were denied the grants.

Sarpanch of Beerbehman village Sandeep Singh said that they were invited for the event but they were denied to meet the minister. The minister said they had not been invited in the event.
