Tarn Taran: Jagroop Singh, son of Bohar Singh, Akali sarpanch of Dubli village in Tarn Taran district, has been booked in a molestation case. The victims are two Dalit sisters from the village.

Jail DSP held for graft
A team of the Vigilance Department led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagdish Singh Janjua on Thursday nabbed DSP, Jail, Jaswinder Singh Sodhi for taking a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a resident, Neelam Kaur, for allowing her to meet her two brothers lodged in the Phagwara sub-jail.

13-year-old Dalit girl raped
A 13-year-old Dalit girl of Dhobiana Basti was raped by her neighbour when she was alone in her house. In a police complaint lodged by the victim, she has stated that the accused, Raju, who lives near her house, entered her house and committed the crime.

Attack survivor gets Rs 8 lakh
Gurjant Singh Janta, who had survived an assault allegedly by henchmen of liquor baron and SAD leader Shiv Lal Doda at a farmhouse in Ramsara village on December 11, has got Rs 8.32 lakh as financial assistance against the expenses borne over medical treatment.

9-yr-old dies in school
A nine-year-old girl, Jasroop Kaur, died after she fell down while playing in the school ground. She was found unconscious over a mound of sand. As she had consumed mid-day meal and de-worming medicine before the incident, the school authorities panicked. A team of specialists conducted an examination and declared “asphyxia due to choking” as cause of death.
