Ferozepur : Reacting to the Union government’s decision to rise the prices of petrol and diesel, the activists of Punjab Youth Congress lodged a strong protest on Tuesday at Zira against the Central government. The activists of the Youth Congress burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and shouted anti Centre government slogans.

Addressing to the gathering the leader of the Youth Congress Kulbir Singh Zira blamed the Modi government for the rising price index of the goods and the rate of inflation. He asked the people where are those Acche Din? about which Narender Modi promised the people of India to enjoy, during the Lok Sabha elections. Beera added that inspite of the so called achhe din (Good days ahead), all the countrymen had been forced to the live in adversity.

The rates of all the general commodities which had already gone beyond the reach of a common man would rise more drastically and the hike in the petroleum products would affect the prices badly, which will cause a more burden on the shoulders of poor people, who are already living in a miserable conditions.

Kulbir Zira said that in Modi’s regime farmers are committing suicides and the industrialists are flourishing, that indicates the Modi’s thinking which is favouring the capitalists at the cost of poor farmers who are starving and forced to die. He added that in spite of providing relief to the debit ridden masses, such hike would be formidable and cause adverse effects.

At this time Lakhwinder Singh Jourha, Rippu Pohwind, Lucky Pardhan, Ashwani Sethi, Rachhpal Singh Gill, Lakhvir Singh Namabardar Rajbir Beri along with a large number of workers also participated in the protest.
