Bathinda : A day after nine persons sustained injuries in a clash took place in Faridkot on Saturday, the police booked a SAD leader Parnam Singh Maur along with two dozen others, including many unidentified persons, under different Sections of the Indian Penal Code including of murder bid.
The bone of contention was the encroachment over a ‘pricey’ plot, as learnt. According to information a Maur along with his goons trespassed a plot and opened firing in the air and assaulted the family in possession with different weapons including sharp-edged ones.
The victim Surinder Kaur claimed that the plot was registered in her name and she had the documentary evidence of the ownership. However, the accused came and tried to throw his family out and in the process, they also torched their house.
Police on Sunday registered the case on the complaint of Surinder Kaur supported by the CCTV footage.
It is learnt that police were earlier showing dilly dally attitude in taking the action but the people assembled around the police station with a warning that inaction of police would lead to a dharna outside the police station.
Responding to public threat, the police booked the accused but failed to arrest any of them. The complainant supported by city people gave an ultimatum to the police for arresting all accused within 24 hours otherwise they would resort to protest.
