Phagwara : Congress activists burnt an effigy of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleging that he was misleading people of Punjab by promising clean politics when his colleagues were mired in scandals in Delhi. Led by Punjab, Mahila Congress, vice-president, Balbir Rani Sodhi, protesters, which included a large number of women, held a demonstration against Kejriwal on Thursday evening at rest house crossing along National Highway-1. Kejriwal, also AAP’s national convenor, arrived on a four-day visit to poll-bound Punjab on Thursday to boost the party’s prospects. Addressing protesters, Sodhi alleged that, “While Kejriwal is flaunting his certificate of honesty and clean politics to mislead public, his colleagues in Delhi were indulging in scandals and misbehaving with women.” “AAP captured power in Delhi on the slogan of being a different party, but people are now fed up with its misrule,” she alleged.
Claiming that Punjabis will not be misled by Kejriwal’s flashy talks and gimmickry, Sodhi added that people of the state will “shoo away” this outfit in up-coming assembly polls as its leaders stood fully exposed.
