Phillaur : Panic gripped the residents of Khaira Village in Phillaur when a gun shot was heard from inside the house of SAD MLA candidate Baldev Khaira on Sunday morning. When villagers rushed towards the spot, they weren’t allowed to go inside the house. It was told to them that a cook has been accidentally shot from the revolver Khaira’s gunman. The deceased has been identified as Mohit who was taken to a hospital in Phillaur but was referred to Ludhiana DMC as his condition deteriorated.

Phillaur police tried to mislead the media persons and told them that cook Mohit 25, was setting the bedsheet and revolver dropped on the floor and a shot was fired accidently. The shot pierced the ribs of Mohit who was employed there just a week back.

However multiple questions but the police in tizzy as how it was possible that a gunman may have left for his home in another village leaving his revolver on the bed? How the trigger went off when safety catch was off ? Did the gunman left the safety open? How did the bullet pierced the lungs and not the legs while it fell on the floor?

Ultimately, Phillaur police registered a case under Section 304 A on Sunday evening against the gunman. SHO PHillaur Jarnail Singh said to Daily Post correspondent that case has been registered as gunman Vikram Kumar had shown gross negligence by leaving the revolver at home with safety catch open.

Meanwhile AAP candidate Sarup Singh Kandiana has demanded judicial inquiry in the incident.”The circumstances under which the Mohit has died are mysterious. A youth from a poor family has lost his life in the home of a powerful SAD leader and Punjab Police isn’t a reliable agency to investigate the matter, hence we demand a judicial inquiry,” said Kandiana.
