MC junior engineer accuses SAD leader Sokhi of assault

Ludhiana : Municipal Corporation Junior Engineer has accused Jagbir Singh Sokhi, chairman Planning Board and SAD worker for assaulting him at his main office at Shimlapuri area.

However, MC (JE) claimed that Sokhi along with his gunman threatened him and forced him to sign at blank papers and also took him along at police station and leveled the allegation on him that he has vandalised the Shimlapuri office.

When MC employee union members came to know about the incident, they took him to civil hospital for treatment.

JE Gagandeep Singh, 23, is deputed at Zone-D. The JE stated that Executive Engineer Balwinder Singh has asked him to get a file signed from Sokhi on Monday. “Jagbir Singh has asked me to come at city based hotel as he was along with Deputy Chief Minister and get the file signed but due to some problem, I failed to reach hotel. On Tuesday, Sokhi asked me to come to his office in Shimlapuri. When I reached there, Sokhi started abusing me for not coming on Monday. When I resisted, Sokhi along with his accomplices thrashed me badly and handed me over to police,” he added.

Jasdev Sekhon, President Municipal Employees Sangharsh Committee, said that the union will meet Commissioner of Police on Tuesday and will demand FIR against Sokhi.

Sub-Inspector Manjit Singh, Additional SHO at police station Shimlapuri said the police did not get any complaint from anyone. The police will take appropriate action after investigating the case.

When contacted Jagbir Sokhi, his worker answered the call and claimed that he is in meeting and will call later.
