Batala : A Punjab Congress worker was shot at and seriously injured by a SAD sarpanch, his son and their supporters at Agwan village under Dera Baba Nanak police station on Friday.

In a post-election rivalry, SAD circle Jathedar and sarpanch of Agwan village Kulwinder Singh, his son Nirmal Singh and their supporters allegedly attacked a Congress worker Kanwaljit Singh (25) with sharp-edged weapons and firearms and injured him seriously.

He was rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital Amritsar where his condition was stated to be critical.

Police has registered a case against Kulwinder Singh, his son Nirmal Singh and four other supporters, who are absconding.
