Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal has criticised the Punjab Government for slow procurement of paddy in the state.

Talking to The Tribune over phone, she alleged that the SAD-BJP government was insensitive towards the dilemma being faced by the farming community in the grain markets.

She alleged that the farmers of Mansa and Bathinda districts living in the border villages near Haryana had been compelled to sell their produce in the neighbouring state instead of waiting for the procurement agencies in the home state.

“Paddy is procured instantly in Haryana, whereas the state government agencies in Punjab are taking a week’s time to lift the produce,” she said.
