Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh lashed out at the Punjab Government for increasing the power tariff. “It is a power shock to the people of Punjab”, he remarked, demanding a rollback.

The PCC president said, his party had consistently maintained that the state government would increase the power tariff after the municipal elections and the Dasuya byelection. Amarinder asked Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to forego the huge subsidy he was getting on power for his thousands of acres of agriculture land.

Demanding that the hike must be rolled back immediately, the former Chief Minister said the power corporation should instead prevent losses because of massive pilferage.
