CHANDIGARH: The People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) on Thursday accepted the resignation of Bir Devinder Singh and announced to have expelled him from the party’s primary membership.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Sardara Singh Johl, party patron. The meeting was also attended by PPP president Manpreet Singh Badal, according to a press statement.
The PPP spokesperson said Bir Devinder’s utterances were aimed at damaging the party, adding that Johl had expressed his displeasure over his (Bir Devinder) absence from party campaigns for the municipal elections and the Dasuya byelection.
Former Punjab deputy speaker Bir Devinder had submitted his resignation to the party president on Tuesday.
