CHANDIGARH: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa on Thursday said the power crisis in the state was man-made and the SAD-BJP government had failed to meet the challenge.

Bajwa said the power crisis was taking an alarming situation notwithstanding the claims by the state government to make Punjab power-surplus by the end of this year. He said deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal had been telling lies to people on the issue of power generation for the past six years.

Bajwa stated that according to the latest report of the Central Electricity Authority, Punjab was 25.6% short of power during the peak season; during the non-peak season, the state had a shortage of 19.6%.
