Chandigarh: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Leader Sunil Jakhar has questioned the ‘basis’ behind asking from the Union government more funds by the Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for modernisation of the police force.

In a statement issued here, on Friday, Jakhar said, “Ahead of asking for more funds for the modernisation of Punjab police from Union government at the internal security meeting in New Delhi, Sukhbir should have released expenditure details of the earlier received funds for the same purpose in the years 2010-11 and 2011-12.”

“To conceal their mismanagement in the financial matter, SAD-BJP government leaves no opportunity to criticise the Congress but the ground reality is that huge cache of funds provided for public welfare purposes had gone down the drains,” he alleged.
