Jalandhar : The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson and former Congress MLA, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, on Friday demanded an apology from Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for their “failure and issuing misleading statements on rescue operations carried out by the state government, to evacuate pilgrims trapped at Gobind Dham near Sri Hemkunt Sahib”.

“It is extremely saddening that the SAD-BJP has utterly failed to rescue over 3000 stranded pilgrims from Gobind Dham for the last many days. In order to deflect and avoid public criticism over its inefficiency, the Badals indulged in lip service and political gimmicks,” Khaira alleged.

“It has now come to light that the so-called helicopter arranged by the government is itself stranded at Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun and has not made a single sortie to rescue pilgrims. These allegations have come from none less than the Vice Chairman of the Sri Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust, Narinderjit Singh Bindra,” Khaira asserted.
