Cong campaign on, SAD, AAP yet to decide candidates

Ludhiana : As the Lok Sabha elections are round the corner, the Congress party has started its poll campaigning in Ludhiana. However, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Punjab Democratic Alliance (PDA) is yet to decide on candidates. The Lok Sabha elections in Punjab will be held on May 19 and the nomination process will start in the third week of April. The Congress was in a mood to repeat Ravneet Singh Bittu, sitting MP as its candidate in Ludhiana.
During the meeting of election committee held in Delhi, the Congress has put stamp on the candidature of Ravneet Bittu and the official announcement will be made on April 2. Following the hint of party high command, Ravneet Singh Bittu has started campaigning in Ludhiana and holding several rounds of meeting daily. Apart from meetings, Ravneet Singh Bittu has also become on social media and installed hoardings in entire constituency with his report card and achievements.On the other hand, Shiromani Akali Dal is yet to decide the candidate from Ludhiana.
Earlier, Maheshinder Singh Grewal was the top contender for party ticket but now former MLA and district president of party Ranjit Singh Dhillon also emerged as contender for the ticket. Dhillon has started meetings and claiming that the party high command has given him green signal.The Punjab Democratic Alliance (PDA) has given Ludhiana seat to Lok Insaaf party headed by MLA Simarjit Singh Bains. However Bains has also announced candidate from Ludhiana till now. In 2014, Bains has contested elections as an Independent candidate and secured more than two lakh votes but was on fourth place. This time Bains has not opened his cards yet.
