Bathinda : Local contenders for the Congress ticket from the Bathinda Lok Sabha seat, including a former Deputy Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha and a former MLA, today raised their pitch for fielding a local party leader in the constituency instead of a parachute candidate.

Addressing a press conference here, former Deputy Speaker Jaswant Singh Fafde Bhaike, former Sardulgarh MLA Ajit Inder Singh Mofar, former Muktsar Congress chief Gurmeet Singh Khudian, and PPCC secretary Tehal Singh Sandhu said, “A local candidate can’t only give a tough fight to the rival party, but will also be easily accessible as an MP.” Mofar said they had given representation to the Congress Working Committee in this regard.
