Jolt to AAP: District president, spokesperson quits AAP, joins Congress

Ludhiana : In a major jolt to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Ludhiana, district president of party Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal and another senior leader Darshan Singh Shankar resigned from the party. Both the leaders cited the reason of ignorance of Party high command towards Punjab and factionalism in party.
Interestingly, few hours after resigning from the party, both the leaders joined Congress. Daljit Grewal joined Congress in presence of Captain Amarinder Singh, Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Ravneet Singh Bittu. Darshan Singh Shankar has also joined Congress in Ludhiana in presence of MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and other leaders.
Daljit Grewal was close aide of MLA Bains brothers but later he joined Aam Aadmi Party and contested Assembly elections. Later he was appointed as district president of AAP. Wife of Daljit Grewal was only councilor of AAP in Ludhiana. In his resignation letter, Grewal said that though Kejriwal is good leader but he has ignored issues and internal crisis of Punjab. He said that due to doctorial attitude of party leaders, AAP has lost its ground in Ludhiana.
Former district Public Relation officer, Darshan Singh Shankar who was spokesperson and member Media coordination committee also resigned from party due to factionalism.
Shankar said that AAP has failed to strengthen its unit in Punjab and moreover the factionalism among party was also a major setback. He said that AAP is not a better platform for serving the people.
With the joining of Daljit Grewal, Congress is likely to get major boost in East constituency as Grewal has secured huge vote share in 2017 Assembly elections.
