BATHINDA:Congress nominee from the Bathinda seat, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, on Tuesday accused the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leadership of derailing the investigation into the 2015 sacrilege and police firing cases.
Addressing his maiden election rally in the constituency, the Gidderbaha MLA and former Youth Congress chief said he will politically take on the Badal family and they will be punished by the voters in their traditional stronghold for not letting ensure a free and fair probe into these incidents.
“Nailing Akalis on insult to the holy book will be among a key issue played against home turf of the Badal family,” he added.
“The role of top Akali leaders in the sacrilege was already under a cloud. Now, they tried to derail the probe by getting special investigation team (SIT) member Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh transferred. Singh was instrumental in arresting an inspector general of police (Paramraj Singh Umranangal) and a retired senior superintendent of police (Charanjit Singh Sharma) in the case. But the Akali Dal lodged a motivated complaint against him with the Election Commission by hiding facts,” hthe Gidderbaha MLA said.
