Ludhiana : Making a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former chief minister of Uttarakhand and general secretary, AICC, Harish Rawat said that leaving aside public issues, the BJP was harping upon emotionally blackmailing the people by politicising Army actions, which never happened earlier.
Rawat was addressing largely attended election meetings as part of the election campaign of Congress candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu in Ludhiana East constituency in ward numbers 11 and 19.
Reacting on the secession lists of SAD-BJP in Punjab, Rawat said that the BJP and SAD were the two sides of same coin and for political gains these can go to any extent of opportunism.
He claimed that there was a strong anti-Modi wave across the country against the “foolish” decisions of demonetisation and GST and angry people will definitely throw Modi out of power. He asserted that the UPA will form government at the Centre.
Rawat said that he had deep regard for Beant Singh who had sacrificed his life to establish peace and tranquillity in Punjab and Bittu was dedicatedly taking his legacy forward. He made a fervent appeal to Ludhiana voters to give a big victory to Bittu to strengthen the hands of Rahul Gandhi and asserted that in Congress-led UPA government, three-time MP Bittu will definitely be a part of the cabinet, which will be instrumental in fast development of Ludhiana.
Addressing the meetings, Bittu said that the Modi government had completely failed to fulfil any of the promises made during the 2014 elections and now it was the turn of people to give a befitting reply on polling day. Bittu appealed to the voters to vote for him.
Others who addressed the meetings include Caninet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, MLA Sanjay Talwar, DCC president Ashwani Sharma, former minister Tej Parkash Singh, PPMC Mamta Datta, district youth president Rajiv Raja and Sushil Prashar .
