Education Minister felicitates meritorious students of Class X

Chandigarh : Punjab Education Minister Om Prakash Soni on Wednesday congratulated the students of class 10th for their excellent performance in class in Class X exams especially those who got positions in the merit list as declared by the Punjab School Education Board.
In a statement issued here, the Education Minister said that under the visionary guidance of Chief Minister, the Education Department had upgraded the standard of school education resulting in achieving higher pass percentage in results of 10th class. The Minister said it was the result of tireless efforts of teaching fraternity and principals in schools that 85.56 pass percentage was secured in the results of 10th class as compared to last year’s 57.50 per cent. He also felicitated teaching fraternity for their utmost dedication and commitment to ensure better results.
The minister said that since the beginning of this session, Punjab government had taken several path-breaking initiatives to bring reforms in the functioning of schools and marked improvements in standard of education so as to provide quality education to the students. In order to achieve this goal, four zones were created in the state and consistent monitoring had been done at school, block and district level in which District Education Officers played a key role to make this programme a grand success.
