Bathinda : Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal accused the previous SAD-BJP government of leaving the state’s financial condition in a mess.

On Friday, he held public meetings in support of Congress candidate Amrinder Singh Raja Warring in Amrik Singh Road area, Veer Colony, Shakti Nagar, Vishal Nagar, Tagore Nagar, Green Avenue, Panchwati Nagar, Gujrati Colony and Ghaniya Nagar in the city. He also did door-to-door campaigning in these areas.

Addressing public meetings, Manpreet said, “To run the state, the SAD-BJP government used to borrow money on interest and when we came to power, the state’s expenditure was more and the income was less. Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh told me that first, we should work on bringing the state’s financial condition on track. Thereafter, we controlled unnecessary expenditure and took some necessary steps. We initiated steps to increase revenue and as a result, the economy of the state has started coming back on track.”

Manpreet said, “I drive my vehicle on my own and don’t take expenses of fuel from the state government even for official visits. Moreover, if I go to Mumbai or any state on official visit, I prefer to stay at my friends’ or relatives’ place to save the money of the state government. The Congress government is trying to resolve all sorts of problems of the city and working to provide better facilities to residents. It is only possible if people support the Congress.”
